Happy Halloween!

Happy Halloween to all!

I love these photos, and although I didn’t take them, I did turn them black and white just for effect.

The pictures are courtesy of a paddle boarding group known as The PaddlebroadsEach year they host a get together called Witches on the Water-so clever! The timing didn’t work out for this year, but it is definitely on my bucket list to go see next year…what a site!

Along with the Halloween theme, our friendly neighborhood spiders have been busy spinning their fall webs. This first one is on the clothesline, and if you look closely at the second one, each droplet is full of color. They’re really quite pretty, as long as you remember “heads up” while walking!

Last week, my daughter and I spent a day at The Quarter Horse Congress, the largest single breed horse competition in the world. The horses and competitors were amazing and a stroll around the marketplace was eye-opening,

Can I interest anyone in an $18,000 (used) saddle?

Maybe I need a new style,

or something with a little more sparkle!

The weather has changed quickly here to cold, wet, and rainy. In fact, we’ve had our first fire in the fireplace-oh no, not for atmosphere, but because the furnace has decided it just doesn’t feel like working-sigh. Technicians were out three times this week…today we’re trying a different company Grrr.

There’s still a few pops of color to be found -Dahlia’s, Ruby Slipper hydrangea leaves, and a rogue tomato plant that somehow found its way into the chicken run.

And so the month has flown- enjoy your Halloween - always such fun if you’re lucky enough to have little cowboys, super-heroes, and princesses at your door. And while there won’t be any trick-or-treaters here, everyone goes into town in search of the full-size candy bars, there will be pumpkin carving ( I really do like it!) snacks, and a not scary movie.

Whatever your plans are, I hope you enjoy the weekend!

  1. It's turned much cooler here, as well. No more fresh mornings, becoming warm by midday. I think I'll be needing to wear my gloves before long.
Loving the witchy photographs. I'm on chaperone duty for trick-or-treating this evening. Happy Halloween, Mary. 🎃

  2. How frustrating and 3xpensive to have a furnace issue.
    Beautiful and expensive horse gear.
We will not have trick or treaters either.
We have witches paddle boarding on our lake here.too.
No Littles in our life anymore sadly.
    Happy Halloween.

  4. Merry Hallowe'en Mary! (Well, the few minutes of it that are left here at least...if I type quickly.). Love the photos of the paddling witches. I've seen photos of them here and there in other places but the photos in black and white are much more intriguing I think. So sorry to hear of your furnace woes. I had more than my share over the past 2 years. I was more than well into the double digits of service calls within a matter of a couple of months alone. It started with the furnace and then when they FINALLY got that (somewhat?) running, it was the a/c that didn't work. Yes, the horse business can be high dollar. My FIL and MIL raised/bred/trained/showed Arabians....EEEK. I only had 4 trick or treaters here...and they were expected. It's sad that that custom has so changed.

  6. What a fabulous photo of the "flotilla" of witches!
The webs are amazing. The smallest of creatures tend to be the most fascinating.
Your fire looks so inviting. We got cold last night, but so far, no frost.
Enjoy this gift of a day!
