Camera roll catch-up…

It’s a rainy Wednesday in my part of the world-windy, 40°, gray skies – a typical Midwest November. But truly, I can’t complain, we’ve had a lovely Fall – most days have been warm, sunny, and beautiful.

Even after several frosts, the Swiss Chard is still happily growing in the garden.

And don’t let anyone tell you that potatoes from the grocery store that have sprouted in your kitchen can’t be planted in your garden – because they absolutely can!

I just thought this photo was pretty, as well as a bit mysterious-looking, it's what’s left after the leaves drop from a clematis bloom.

And this is the moon coming up – honestly NO filters were used. I have no clue as to why it photographed looking so eerie!

I truly think these are little fairies dancing in the autumn sun…

The field corn for this year is:

Going,

going,

gone!

And this is the daily scene as harvest winds up - a lesson in patience as equipment slowly moves from field to field. No room for passing this fella!

Bailey ready for her first walk in 4 months after her heartworm treatment…

and Bailey after her walk!

This pumpkin is from last year! The variety is called Hot Chocolate and I’m amazed it’s in such fantastic condition - you’d never know it’s not from this season. Last year I simply set it on a shelf in the basement where it happily lived until a few weeks ago. I’m going to try my luck again with a couple more I bought this year. It's heavy, so it's not dried out inside...no seeds to be heard when I shake it, but I do hope it dries and stays just like this.

And last but not least, my daughter and I went on a girls weekend to Taylor Swift’s final Eras Tour concert! Tickets were bought over 15 months ago - August of 2023 so, as the song says, "It’s been a long time coming!"

We had the best time...it was a beautiful drive through farmland, perfect weather, and as always, my daughter is the best navigator, music coordinator, and snack distributor!

And then to our seats!

We had such a fun time - friendly crowds and a concert that lasted 3-1/2 hours with no breaks. So thrilled that she invited me to go with her - a night to always be remembered!

Well, that's the latest from my corner of the world...hope all is well wherever you may be!

  2. hi Daisy, I just brought in the two hot chocolate pumpkins that were outside, they were covered with snow this morning! I’m ready for a good old-fashioned hard winter – we’ll see what happens🤞 hope everything is well where you are, love the LEGO birthday celebration. My son just turned 21 - yikes - don’t know where the years went, anyway he saw some insect Legos, so they’re on his Christmas list. I’m not sure you ever outgrow the fun of Legos!

  4. How fun to have a girls night out and to see a concert. That sure was a long wait though. I would never have guessed that a pumpkin would last that long. Look forward to seeing if this year's pumpkins last myself now. Janice

    1. Hi Janice, we did have a ball – we don’t get away for treats like that very often, so I wanted to make the most of it. Grateful to have a sweet girl who lets her old mom tag along! And I agree about the pumpkin – I’m hoping it eventually dries and is preserved - People say to poke holes in them so they can begin to dry, but I’m not gonna do that. It just seems like a sure way to make it rot. Will keep you posted next year, after Thanksgiving they’ll go back down to the basement.

  5. Your camera roll is filled with amazing beauty! That moon photo!! WOW! It almost looks like the sun. Crazy little pumpkin... Every once in a while that little miracle seems to happen. I wish I could figure out why one stays perfectly preserved and the others rot. I suppose it's kind of like people LOL. I have one little white pumpkin that has stayed in tact for 4 years now. It has never dried inside...the outside has yellowed a wee bit, but still impressive. You and your daughter are so beautiful...and it looks like filled with fun. I'm so glad you were able to make another wonderful memory together. ~Robin~

  6. Robin, you crack me up. Yes, some pumpkins are like a lot of people I know. Especially the year we picked out beautiful pumpkins to carve. They looked terrific on the outside then when we carved them they were completely rotten on the inside. - hmmm. I have a feeling if you lived close by, we would share a lot of laughter! Thanks for the kind words – like I told Janice, I’m just glad I have a sweet daughter who let her old mom come along – I was definitely above the average age! And 4 years - wow what’s the secret to that magical pumpkin?

    1. She did Jules thank you – we kept it short, just to make sure she was up to it, but she’s glad to be out in the fresh air again!

  8. Awww...what a wonderful time with your daughter. What beautiful pictures of both of you. Wow - I can't believe that pumpkin is from last year! I concur about the potatoes - I plant ones from the store every year in addition to purchased seed potatoes. They always provide a harvest. Wishing you and your family a happy Thanksgiving!

    1. Hi Staci - those potatoes absolutely do grow, I’m glad you’ve discovered the secret, everyone should give it a try! Thank you, we had a great time, and I’m thrilled that she invited me to tagalong with her - a wonderful mother daughter getaway.
