where did May go?!

How can it be June? The days are flying by with:

starry nights...

stormy sunsets...

and rainy afternoons.

I have a love/hate relationship with May...warm and dry enough to tackle outdoor projects (which seem to multiply), while indoors (mostly ignored while tackling the great outdoors), looks as if a whirlwind has blown through.

Ahhh yes, time to bring back the forgotten English word:

Scurryfunge...hastily tiding up when needed!

And with that, a quick post today, sharing a few snapshots from the merry month of May!

corn growing!

flowers blooming...

bees buzzing...

a little volunteer winter wheat
in the garden patch!

a happy mockingbird I named Molly
kept me company while I was
painting
the greenhouse!

May and the start of Spring can feel overwhelming at times with outdoor chores, winter cleanup, and barn spruce-ups. Toss in unexpected visits to the laundry-mat because a washer repair took 3 weeks, then add countless efforts to get the rototiller started; which it refuses to do, and I won't even go into detail on the totaled car (no injuries)!

EVEN with all of that!

May rewarded us with lovely rainbows,

and the prettiest flowers,
free for the picking!

Thanks for stopping by to visit and for saying "hi" over at the Rural Farmgirl blog...I appreciate it!

  1. What a month of May you have had! You will be glad it has turned into June LOL. Sorry to hear about the car, hope it wasn't too bad. Love your photos, especially the sky ones (some are quite spectacular). Keep smiling :)

    1. It’s been crazy Margaret - they say when it rains it pours - and it’s true, some days are just better than others๐Ÿ˜‰! But I suppose the bottom line is when I wake up every morning and get to try again – that’s what’s important! Glad you like the pictures-and I will follow your advice!!๐Ÿ˜

  2. Fantastic photos...as always! Eek on the car, washer and tiller, but I'm glad to hear no injuries. I love how you've described May - it's all so very true. But, most of all, I love the word scurryfunge!! I ABSOLUTELY love that word LOL (Can you tell I can relate a little too well??). ~Robin~

    1. Hi Robin, some days the sun and clouds are just right and I’m there at the exact time to capture it - thank you for your kind words on my pictures. I’m glad you liked the word –Scurryfunge - It made me giggle! Actually, I think it means running around cleaning right before company comes, but I feel like I’m running around cleaning all the time, praying nobody drops in! Does that make me cranky-hoping nobody comes by unexpectedly? I want to have one of those perfect houses where even if someone does, everything looks fabulous – but I don’t see that happening - glad you can relate!

    1. You’re so right! Fresh start in a new month - I’m off tiller shopping this week (it was after all about 20 years old) washer repaired, and a not new, but new to me set of wheels in the drive - (and for the record I wasn’t the one driving ๐Ÿ˜‰!) June will be a month of blooms - thanks for the good wishes!

  4. You are so right May seems to be a month of projects. Planting, cleaning and getting ready for the main event of summer. We are now into June and I hope our projects are coming to an end. So sorry to read of a total car but glad no injuries.
Your blooms are lovely we are slow starters here so June brings the color.

  5. Oh no! Well, you've pretty much summed up May quite nicely. ๐Ÿ˜Š I hope June is a little slower pace for you and happy to hear that there were no injuries with the totaled car.

    1. Thanks for the good wishes for June, Staci - It’s just been a crazy start to 2024 with a lot going on. I know it happens to everyone. I’m definitely ready for that slower pace.!

  6. Hello! I am sorry so late in visiting! I have not been the best with time management lately. I have a new puzzle game on my phone to thank for that! I am sorry to hear of the car! But thankful no one was injured! The washer? Ugh. I can imagine. Our washer broke when Flynn was a week old! Of course, the parts were on back order! LOL I had a wonderful friend down the road that took my wash and brought it back. Anyway, I enjoyed your photos and my visit to your lovely space, my friend. Here's to a calmer, cozier June!

    1. No worries - The days get busy and they slip by, I completely understand! Thanks for taking the time to visit, you always have words of inspiration. How wonderful that you had such a thoughtful neighbor to wash and return laundry knowing you had a newborn - what a blessing. The weather this week has been like fall so I’m closing in on those outdoor must do’s. And yes, yes – here is to a calmer and cooler month of June!

  7. Oh yes, June is already here and it won't be long until July begins. Love all of your photos. I had to chuckle when you mentioned having a hard time to get the tiller to start. I can try and try to get the lawn mower to start and I have finally accepted that it just does not like me because my husband can just touch it and it starts easily! LOL Have a wonderful month of June, your photos are always so lovely!

    1. Oh we both need a key start tiller and mower! Mine is old and a new carburetor plus labor is just too involved - they don’t even make the parts any longer! Maybe I need to find my inner pioneer and plow by hand ๐Ÿ˜ You’re so right - how does the time fly so quickly? Enjoy the month too - hope it’s a bit cooler!

  8. Hello! I know I already commented here, but I had to come and thank you for your kind comment on my water damage. I really appreciate your words of encouragement! And don't you just love that quote!!!! Yes to the Dunkin, too!

    1. Oh, you’re certainly welcome, water damage is just one of those things that causes so much trouble. I absolutely understand and I hope things are back to normal quickly. And the quote is a keeper - don’t know how you found it, but it is absolutely perfect for “those” days!
