Welcome to our 1864 farmhouse…life is good!

A note to say...

Thanks!

for taking the time to visit and comment on the comings & goings in my small-town corner of the world. I know your days are full, the to-do list long, your adventures numerous, and each day seems to pass by at warp speed.

Also, thank you for posting on your own blogs...I'm always so happy to read what you've been up to and I truly learn so much from each of you! Again, heartfelt thanks for the time you take - whether you're across the country, or on the other side of the world, I so appreciate you.

Snapshots of what's happening here on the farm...

Weather:

Wind, wind, and more wind...so grateful to have been spared damage from the storms that passed through. Stepping outside, this is what I see around me...

North & South

East & West

with no tall buildings or homes to block winds whipping across acres of open fields, (and don't get me wrong, I LOVE that) there's always prayers that trees will stand strong, along with a rush to secure anything that might fly away!

Sunsets:

glorious...truly, no filter here. It's as if the sky was on fire.

Easter Decorations:

It's just me...never a fan of pastels, Spring seems hard to decorate for, but here's a peek at what you'd see if you stopped by to visit:

Beautiful Blooms:

Amid the windy, rainy, up & down temperatures of March, I spied a single, beautiful, blooming rose peeking through an old gate.

How it survived this topsy-turvy month is beyond me, and yet, I thought it was absolutely perfect.

And lastly, my Christmas Cactus is blooming again. A gift from a friend when my son was born, for the last 19 years it has always bloomed around his birthday in mid-November. In 2021 it bloomed from November through March, which was amazing to me. Now, after blooming in November, it's blooming once more...

Thank you again for visiting, sending you warm wishes, across the miles...

There is no season such delight can bring,
as Summer, Winter, Autumn, Spring.

  1. What a blessing to have no buildings to obstruct your sunsets. I like your Easter decor. The green eggs with the bunny are so adorable!
    Enjoy your holiday.

    1. I do love the open spaces...it took a bit of getting used to at first (when the wind would blow through the corn at night, it felt like a scary movie!) but after all these years, I can't imagine anywhere else. Enjoy your weekend, too!

  2. Hello, my lovely friend! I love your thoughts on blogging. I am also thankful that our friends share their lives with us. Thank you for your comments and friendship. It is so nice to know that out there somewhere is a woman who loves home and family as much as I do! I love your Easter decor!! Have a blessed Holy Week!

    1. Isn't it terrific? People I never would have met otherwise, feel like old friends - and I do appreciate learning from them. And thank you too...sometimes, when I hear "are you ever going back to work?" I start to feel down, but this is where I'm supposed to be - thank you for your example, Billie Jo!

  3. I enjoyed stopping by and seeing what you have going on. Your pictures are beautiful, and your Easter decor is really super cheerful! I finally found all of our Christmas poinsettias in nooks and crannies around here and have them put away. My favorite flower and color! We have so much snow still left, so the open bench on our front porch would look odd filled with Spring type flowers (always fake) so it's still happily filled with poinsettias to greet folks. Have a great week! ~Sandy

    1. Oh thank you Sandy...with all that snow, I'd leave that pop of cheery, red color out, too! Wish we'd had some of your snow...it was a sometimes cold, but pretty snow-less winter here. Fingers crossed for the winter of 23-24...send me some of your extra snow!!

  4. You must witness some of the most beautiful sunsets.
Your Easter decorations are lovely. A very simple Easter tree is all that I have managed. X

    1. Some sunsets are so pretty, but gone in the blink of an eye - it reminds me to try and enjoy each moment. And I think a simple Easter tree sounds perfect...sweet and the best way to welcome Spring, without being too stressful.

  5. How blessed you are to see nighly sunsets. We sat on the beach on vacation every night to watch. The mountains block our view.
You have the perfect name on your blog.
    I like your easter decorations
It all says spring to me!

    1. Cathy - the beach must have been so relaxing; good for you to get away and enjoy it! But I envy you the mountains...I grew up in a very hilly area and went to college surrounded by mountains...sometimes I miss that. And you're spot on...that good, old wind is exactly how the farm got it's name!

    1. Isn't it funny about the cactus? You'd think after all these years it would be gigantic, but it's still small-ish. I'm just thrilled I've been able to keep it going - it's so sentimental for me. Enjoy your week as well...wondering if you're still surrounded by snow?!

  7. Thanks to you too Mary. I love your wide open spaces - they make the heart sing just to look at your photos, although I can imagine the wind would be quite fierce with nothing to stop it :)

    1. You're exactly right, Margaret. In winter that wind finds every spot to sneak into and drives the heat right out of the house. In summer, it's nice as long as it's a cool breeze from the north...but a wind from the south bringing it's heat & humidity makes summertime miserable. For me anyway...I know some folks love that heat - I just use it as an excuse to head indoors for lemonade or an ice cream float!

  8. That sunset :-)) a splendor...I took a tour over the fields last night and there was also a beautiful sunset here with us...it was heavenly. This morning I had my coffee on the terrace in the sunshine because there will be three days of rain... during the night there was frost... so Easter time will be much indoors. Warm greetings to you from Viola. Happy Easter to you and yours.
