Welcome to our 1864 farmhouse…life is good!

Monday, September 5

slowly into autumn...

 It's beginning...a change of seasons.

And with it are so many lovely things to be enjoyed;

flowers are blooming,

tomatoes for harvesting,

a sweet little roadside flower stand,

along with some flowers from that stand for cheering up the kitchen!

A gardening table that was found for a song (it's lined with tin).
Now, on to dreaming of a little greenhouse to put it in!

Now that the goldenrod flowers line the country roads, we know that one season is slipping into another. Summer is winding down...we can see it as well as sense it.

While some folks get "Spring Fever", I tend to get "Fall Fever." It's time to plan for what's ahead...check food storage, stack firewood, count hay bales - I guess I'd call it a worker ant agenda! (as well as a "keep busy because my youngest just left for college" agenda.)

And while it's a time of change, it's good to know that some things endure, whether it's the changing seasons of nature or our own lives. I read a quote recently that said,

"In every ending, there is a beginning."

Again, I so appreciate the kind words shared with me...you are all so thoughtful.

  1. Oh boy do I get fall fever as well! I absolutely love this time of year. The table is such a sweet find and fresh cut flowers always brighten the room and put a smile on the face.

    Happy you're keeping busy.
    Wishing you a wonderful week!

  2. Staci, So glad to know I'm not alone in my Fall Fever! My favorite time of year too, and with the cooler temps it helps working on that to-do list a little easier. Always enjoy reading about what you're up to...you keep me inspired!

  3. Autumn is slowly creeping in here, and yet it still feels quite warm for the time of year. There are acorns falling from the tree over the road. X

  4. Such a sweet flower stand! So love that plant table too! What a great find. If I had a covered porch it would be there with flowers onside. Janice

  5. Hi Jules, it sounds as if your weather is similar to ours now - we also have many acorns in our yard, but the squirrels never seem to discover them! Hope all is well, Mary

  6. Janice, I thought you'd like the table too! I agree...oh to have a large covered porch to put it on and decorate for the seasons. I have it by our mudroom door steps, but I'll tuck it away when the weather turns...I don't want it to lose it's pretty color in the rain/snow. Mary

  9. Billie Jo - I think we're kindred spirits when it comes to Fall! I have my candles burning and fall wreaths on the doors!

Beside a babbling brook - Yes, easing into a season is good...I think we can appreciate them more, than when there's a sudden, drastic change. I hope it's a long fall...my favorite!
