Welcome to our 1864 farmhouse…life is good!

Wednesday, April 11

is that snow?

Ah yes...yesterday, and just for a bit this morning, there were snowflakes drifting down from the spring sky.

Snowflakes!

Delicate blooms on fruit trees remain covered, along with other little blossoms...I'm crossing my fingers.
Soon enough we'll find out how they've fared when the "real" spring weather arrives. (Should I tell you I had a fire in the fireplace yesterday?!)

And so, even though it's absolutely freezing outside, here's a peek of what's to come...
just a little something to keep our spirits up!

    1. It surely is a crazy spring...I guess the weather will keep me indoors to wrap up spring cleaning!

  2. It has been chilly in these parts too and a fire has been going in our kitchen these past few days. Why not, it's cozy and cheaper than running the furnace. : )

    1. I admit, I do love a cozy, crackling fire...sounds to me like a good way to settle in for the weekend with a good book!

  3. Don't worry, we had the woodstove going the other day!! Just too cool in the house for these achey bones.

    1. Isn't it funny...everyone seems to have the fireplace or woodstove going this month? It is a nice way to use up the last of the firewood by the back door...that way I don't have to haul it back to the barn!

  4. You're not alone with the wood fire. I wanted to start spring cleaning this week but it's been so chilly at night that we've been using the wood stove and there is NO WAY I'm going to spring clean and then have ash settle on everything again. Nope...I'll just wait. Oh goodness...snow in April. I remember the first April after I found out I had a sister and I was writing to her on April 1st...it was snowing as I was writing my letter...heavy wet British Columbia snow. I doubt we'll get snow here in Kansas at this point but the weather has been crazy enough around the world that you just never know! Thanks for stopping by today...it's always nice to 'see' you. I hope you have a warm and sunny Friday.

    1. That's so true, Maura...yesterday I began to wash down the walls in the kitchen and sure enough, there was black on the cloth. LOVE the fireplace, but I don't love the clean up! I remember ages ago one of our hardest snowstorms was in April...so we really never know what's up next. For me, I'm hoping for a cool summer...the Midwest humidity just does me in! Enjoy your weekend - Mary
