Hi to all, just a quick visit to say hello and hope you're all keeping warm! Happy to report the pipes thawed in about 12 hours with no bursting to clean up (yay!) and now I'm much more dedicated to making absolutely sure the dripping is equal in both hot and cold faucets.
We've had crazy weather, like most of you...twice now it's been hail and freezing rain paired with the loudest cracks of thunder; quite an odd combination. Bailey was curled up under blankets trying to block out as much of the thunder as she possibly could, while I was busy getting a fire started...ice on the power lines is a sure way for the electricity to go out here. And being the last house on the company's line, well, we're a low priority when it comes to restoring power. Ugh...luckily, it passed and all is well.
This month I tried my hand at homemade Pop-tarts (can I say that?) hmmm, okay, toaster pastries! Not hard at all, and something I'll definitely sell from the milk house this year.
I'm still trying to "power clean" as I call it, and with headphones on time passes so much easier. I've listened to the Laura Ingalls books and now I'm working my way through the Harry Potter ones. Found for free online, the audio-books have been a terrific way to make make tedious jobs go just a bit faster.
Well, that's it for today friends...hope all is well wherever you may be!
sorry about the frozen pipes it is always a bother. We have had pretty cold weather this year. We live on a little dead-end road and when power goes out we are the last to get it back. We had a on demand generator installed several years ago and haven't really lost the power since lol. But it is a comfort to have it there.
ReplyDeleteWE are in for snow tomorrow night and I am starting a new rug tomorrow.
I am listening to Pactrick Taylor on audio free from the library. I love the Irish brogue and the funny stories of an Irish country Dr.
Cathy
Hi Cathy, sounds like we're both a low priority when the power is out! It's funny, the house down the road is on a little co-op and never goes out, much more reliable than our "big" company. Ohhh a new rug, what's the pattern? Such a wonderful way to spend time snowed in...maybe, just maybe, I'll try my own, a small one of course. Could be fun! Keep warm and be safe in all the coming snow!
DeleteIt's good to hear from you, Mary. I'm relieved to know that you're getting on okay during these cold, winter months.
ReplyDeleteKeep cosy. Xx
Oh, let's hope that Ole Man Winter takes an early vacation in March! Glad that you didn't have damage from the freezes.
ReplyDeleteI have been indulging in podcasts when I am puttering around the house. It's a good way to feed my soul and find comfort. Enjoy your audio books!
Morning Daisy! You're so right, the books and podcasts keep my mind occupied while I'm doing less than fun sorting or whatever, and my son pointed me to a podcast about he listens to about biology (his major) I've learned so much. It's a good indulgence - enjoy them! We all need a little "something" when the days are still a bit dark and chilly. Before long you'll be out in the garden all day long! (and I'll be complaining about the heat!!)
DeleteAm hoping Spring comes quickly. We had 7 inches of snow and more to come now Saturday and Sunday. Am so tired of the white stuff now. Once I was in a blizzard and we had thundersnow. Was told this would occur in the center of a blizzard. It was crazy lightning and thunder with snow flying everywhere. Hope your weather gets better too. Janice
