a catch-up…

I’ve been spending this afternoon reading how everyone has been enjoying these early days of spring…and while I don’t have blossoms to show (there are, however, oodles of dandelions!) I thought I’d share a little catch up on what’s been happening here.

I’m a firm believer that we’re never too old for an Easter basket.

We had all of the traditional foods, and have been enjoying leftovers throughout the week - yay!

This candle always comes out for Valentine’s Day and Easter - would you believe it’s from my daughter’s first birthday celebration? She’s 25 now! It’s an amazing candle that burns very slowly, but I also don’t let it burn endlessly, I want to keep it special.

We’ve taken springtime drives to enjoy farms along the back roads (a little side eye from this fella)

and met a new friend along the way.

While I have definitely put the tatting project off to the side, I thought I’d share some more squares from the large cross-stitch piece that I purchased years ago: May, June, July, and August:

I wish I could say I did these myself; however, I absolutely don’t have the patience. My lot in life is to admire and appreciate the patience and artistry that others have for stitching/hooking/sewing.

The stained embroidery pieces that I found in the barn are now soaking…hopefully some of the stains will lighten (thanks for your suggestions!) If not, I will simply fold them creatively so I can still appreciate their beauty.

As the saying goes, that’s all from my neck of the woods. I’m curled up with Bailey and my favorite gardening books looking for inspiration and wondering what I will put in place of my now flat-as-a-pancake door arbor :(

Enjoy your week friends!

    1. Good morning Jules - the candle is a sweet reminder. While tunneling down the middle in a candle is usually annoying, I’m so glad this one is…I can always tuck a tea light inside should we ever burn it to the bottom!

  2. What a special candle...and so are those monthly stitching blocks. Yes it takes time to cross stitch so I know the love that was stitched into those first hand. The cow looked cute and I thought you were going to say you brought that kitty home. She also looked sweet. Janice

    1. Oh she hopped right on my daughter’s lap - and yes, as we always say:: what’s one more?! But she had a home in a pretty farmhouse at a nearby state park. Now if I could sneak the cow in the backseat…!

    1. Hi Daisy - the temperature is working its way up every day! I’ve started to clean out a few flowerbeds and make plans - lots of fallen limbs to burn but it’s been too windy. All in good time I guess!

  4. A post entirely made up of preciousness!! What a wonderful souvenir of memorable times. And those snippets of your cross stitch are so beautiful. Truly a timeless work of art. The sweet kitty and calf would likely have been cat- and calf-napped were I in the neighborhood. Gotta run - the severe t-storm watch just became a warning and things are beginning to look wicked out there. One last check to make sure the hatches are battened down...

    1. Oh goodness - feet of snow then severe thunderstorms - hunker down and be safe! Will be thinking of you - they can be frightening. And Robin we could use a partner in crime! My daughter calls herself The Bovine Bandit and I am The Cow Catcher - we continually slow down by the fields and say to each other - “Do you think that one will fit in the backseat? Come on-they’ll never miss it!” I will have a Jersey beauty one day - although I get a lot of resistance. Grrr.
