3 questions…

One never knows what will be discovered in an old barn (where is my bag of gold, please?!)

Alas, while not gold; however, they are treasures of a different kind.

This was in an old box - perhaps a pillowcase once upon a time? The edges are frayed, but otherwise in pretty good shape…anyone with embroidery knowledge; chrysanthemums?

This looks like it would have been a lovely violet embroidered tablecloth - but the black discolorations are so sad to find. Any suggestions to remove them? Mold/mildew stains maybe. (What’s the secret to cleaning with snow I’ve heard about?!)

Lastly, these prints in the snow - hmmm. A bit bigger than the size of my fist, straight line (which I read indicates a cat of some sort) and measured in at 4’10” apart - YIKES. What animal has a stride nearly 5 feet?

Any ideas…coyote, wolf, Abominable Snowman, maybe?!

Happy Thursday to all - keep warm and safe wherever you are!

  1. Yikes on those paw prints. Not sure if you have cougars in your area. Scary nonetheless. Pretty needlework. Someone had talent to create those. Janice

  2. No cougars here..bobcat, coyote, wolf-but there’s no toes and no claw marks. If I didn’t know better I would say it looks like a horse hoof - although I highly doubt it Yikes! And too close to the house - time to investigate!

  3. Yes, I'd say Chrysanthemum... Re the stains, try a soak using a combination of vinegar and baking soda....or Borax and vinegar. In either case, be careful as it is highly possible that floss/thread is not colorfast and will run/bleed. And the tracks? I'd say deer...definitely not a cat....

    1. Thanks Robin, it does kind of have that heart shape that you expect from a deer and maybe a buck would have a stride that long. Very rarely are they so close to the house, but with these temperatures they could be looking for anything extra to eat Thank you so much for the cleaning tips. I will take a toothbrush and dip in the mixture and see if that lifts them staying away from the stitching. Appreciate your advice- will let you know if it works!
