Summer is in full swing, and I don’t know where the days go! Well, with the exception of yesterday morning, it went to cleaning out the basement refrigerator - evidently at some point during the week it quit cooling and freezing - let’s not talk about that: yuck.
Bailey celebrated her birthday! There were treats of birthday dog cookies, birthday dog cake, and a dog bone with sprinkles. Nothing is too much for the once frightened dog found hiding in a barn…she is the sweetest soul ever (and a good sport about the birthday hat!)
A snapshot of goodies from the farmers’ market:
Dahlias in bloom.
A trip to a new antique shop and I spied pink enamelwear with a blue/purple trim - I’ve never seen this color.
Barnum still visits, but he’s just too shy to let us get close. He doesn’t mind posing for a picture though.
And that’s the latest from here - it’s time I was off to bake pies for the little farmers’ market in town. Hoping summer is going well for you - here it’s heat, humidity, rain, repeat!
It's lovely to see a post from you Mary, and I hope you and your family are all keeping well.
ReplyDeleteThat's a gorgeous photograph of Bailey. She found herself a wonderful home. Xx
Oh, thank you Jules - we’ll never know if Bailey found her way here, or was dropped off, either way she’s a sweetheart. Enjoy each minute of your summer as well. You’re doing it just right, adventures, balanced with relaxing - you always inspire me.
DeleteHappy birthday to your sweet dog. She won the lottery getting to live with you. I just bought blueberries from the farmer up the street nothing better except the pies you are making my favorite dessert
ReplyDeleteCathy
Hi Cathy! How does that saying go: Who rescued who? Bailey is a dear. Oh just picked blueberries from down the road - it doesn’t get any fresher than that. What are you making, pies? I’ve been making rustic galettes, so easy, and they don’t need to look “perfect!”
DeleteI agree with Jules - so very good to see a post from you come up on my feed (and a comment in my inbox!) I just love your photos. If you ever give up your day job, you certainly have a career in photography! Happy Birthday to Bailey! Wow...I didn't know she'd been found in a barn. And, awww...sweet Barnum. (Ha ha..."Barnum and Bailey"....love it!!!) The days are whipping by here as well and I'm definitely not keeping up in any sense of that phrase.
ReplyDeleteI just don’t know where the time goes Robin, I cannot keep up with things! I know everybody feels that way…what doesn’t get done today, moves on to tomorrow’s to-do list - I’m a being believer in lists (Not sure if that’s good or bad!). Thank you for your kind words, I’ve always liked photography-and I’ll give
Deleteyou the link to how Bailey found her way here -yep, hiding in the barn. And Barnum was my son’s idea- exactly; Barnum & Bailey! Hang in there, remember, we’re doing the best we can, working as quickly as we can, but we also have to remember to take time for us. As Scarlett O’Hara said, “After all, tomorrow is another day!”
PS...Lucky you to have a volunteer pumpkin plant...Let her go and grow!!!!!
ReplyDeleteShe’s taking over, Robin - I think next week I’ll get out the tiller and dig up some more room for her! I can’t even see the poor squash plant that’s somewhere in there cozied up with her ;)
DeleteHappy birthday to sweet Bailey! Your pink enamelware is either a repo if it is light or from France or Japan if heavy. American enamelware was not pink. Hoping Barnum comes more often and starts to trust you. Janice
ReplyDeleteI love it when you share your knowledge, Janice! It would be cute for a nursery . And yes, I agree, I keep telling Barnum-who else on this road is going to give you pot roast or chicken whenever you show up, you gotta stay!
DeleteLovely photos, as usual. Happy Birthday to your sweet girl, Bailey! She is looking fit and fancy in her party hat!
ReplyDeleteEnjoy that volunteer pumpkin plant. We have so many volunteers this year as well. No need to purchase gourds for decorating this fall!
Be Blissed!
Happy Friday, Daisy! Yes, Bailey was spoiled for her birthday, and when my son came home a few days later, we had birthday party 2.0! You’re right free pumpkins - I’m assuming it’s a pumpkin I’ll keep you posted! I planted some squash next to it, it’s completely taken over. I may have to make the garden bigger before long!
DeleteHello, my dear friend! I love my visits with you because I always feel like we are just chatting over a cup of coffee! Happy Birthday to your sweet one! Love the pictures of your farmer's market goodies. So pretty! Enjoy these summer days. They are flying! But...Shhhhh... Yay!
ReplyDeleteHi Billie Jo - my Fall-loving friend! I received a Bath and Body Works flyer in the mail this week, it was already advertising their Halloween scents! Yes - shhhh we don’t want it to go too quickly. I couldn’t agree more, I love stopping by your blog : cozy, peaceful, family all the things I love most. So glad I discovered your little corner of the world.
