Sunday drive surprise!

Hidey-ho on this cool & rainy Wednesday…it feels like Fall here - not that I’m complaining! Too soggy to till the garden, but perfect napping weather. I’m trying hard not to give in to the temptation.

I thought I’d share a few snapshots from this week’s Sunday drive. Yes, the usual pastoral pix of bovine beauties (thanks Daisy!)

Along with excellent equines,

and delightful donkeys.

Not to be outdone by a…

CURIOUS CAMEL!

Trust me, this is not something we ever see around us. We were driving past a bed and breakfast found off the beaten path, and there he was: Hobnobbing with his fellow farm friends. Needless to say, it was quite a surprise and made us laugh…I thought it might give you a chuckle, too!

(Sometimes small towns are described as cow-towns, I’m casting a vote to change us to Camel-town!)

And so, that’s the latest from Camel-town! If you’re looking for just a little more to read, my Rural Farmgirl post for May is now up at MaryJanesFarm:

Thanks for stopping by!

  1. Now that would be a sight to drive by a camel. Loved the expression it gave you. There is a farm nearby us that has bison and longhorns, but am sure you see quite a few longhorns in your state, Janice

    1. Good morning Janice, yes, it was quite a surprise! At first we thought it might be a llama, then as we got closer it was clear it was a camel. We do have a few short horns around here, and Highland cattle are becoming more common, but mostly dairy and Angus cattle. There’s always lots of llamas, alpacas, sheep, and goats no matter where we go!

    1. Hi Cathy, Sunday drives aren’t taken every week, but lately they just seem like a simple way to unwind from a busy Saturday and prepare for the week ahead. Wonder what we’ll see next week?!

  3. Too funny! Now you have me "curious" as to what you'll discover on your next drive...perhaps a dreadful dragon?? ;-) We have reindeer and bison, llamas, alpacas, peacocks and what-nots, but I've never seen a camel. He looks as perplexed as to why he's there are you probably were. Enjoy the holiday weekend!

    1. You’re so right Robin, I thought he looked a little curious, too (or maybe he thought we were rude for staring!) I’ll have to go to the B&B’s website and see if there’s anything about him. Wow, reindeer would be magical— I have a feeling that Nod is a pretty wonderful place. While I love the old-fashioned ways, I’m grateful for this technology that lets us meet across the many miles - always joy to hear from you!
